I am mainly a self-taught artist and have been a member of dA for... About two years or so. :D I started drawing after reading the Redwall series, so I owe a lot to my 8th grade English teacher who gave me the first Redwall book. :D I am currently a junior in high school and I am planning to major in Graphic Design and minor in Business once I get to college. =P

Portfolio Help? And Status Update

I'm wondering, in a portfolio (for college) can one include fan art?

I'm looking into attending a University, not an Art College, and I'm planning on majoring in Graphic Design. I've read multiple opinions about this online and I'm curious as to what you guys think.

Also, lets assume that the fan art in question is something like a movie poster or other promotional item for a novel published before 1923, would that be alright to include in a portfolio or not?

In other news...

I apologize for my lack of activity as of late, I've been rather busy (and a bit lazy, I won't lie) so if I owe anyone art, LET ME KNOW, I have my own list but I feel like I'm forgetting some folks. :( And I feel terrible for not submitting enough Redwall related art as of late, I need to find inspiration and I need to stop drawing sci-fi stuff. :XD:

As a final note, if any of you guys wanna talk about anything, leave a comment. :) I don't bite.
